Beginning this week, 20th January, I’m starting a *new* online class on Wednesdays, 12:15-1pm to help get us moving, breathing and feeling a bit less stuck during these looooong lockdown weeks!
Love in the time of Corona
Thank you SO MUCH to so many of you who have joined us online and brought our little shala together over the past three weeks, even though we’re apart. If you haven’t joined us yet, you are welcome!
It feels like we’re sort of settling into this new normal now…though certainly for me, the emotional tides continue to ebb and flow. There is opportunity for clarity here too. And for me it has reconnected me to what this is all about.
Community.
Doing something that matters.
Providing a little lightness, a little openness, a little more kindness.
I love seeing you all at home, coming together to practice and to retain our togetherness. It’s important. It’s love.
And now we can be limitless! Invite your friends, those who don’t live nearby, those who can’t usually come along to a ‘real’ class. This was always about us all. No boundaries.
So here is our timetable – please note a small time-change to Saturday mornings, and a new mid-week short stretch + meditation class on Wednesday evenings.
I hope you can join us. Please get in touch if you have any questions. Details and updates are also regularly posted on our facebook page, please ‘like’ us to stay connected.
Sending love and wishing you all healthy weeks ahead,
Lucy x
2020 Yoga!
2020 is very satisfying to write and see!
Don’t you think? It feels significant. A big year. A year for change?
Small steps my friends. We’re still deep in the winter. Not the time for sudden changes or restrictive resolutions, in my humble opinion 🙂 A time for quiet attention, tending our inner fires. Listening to our heart’s gentle song. What might be there? What might be possible, or needed. No rush. No need to jump. Just listen. Return to home-base. It is all here, unfolding.
I’m returning – finally! – to what feels like my own yoga-home, the Stables Yoga Centre in York on Monday evenings from 6th January!
After almost 4 years, and two babies, I can’t wait to be back teaching Vinyasa Flow (6:15-7:30pm) and Beginners Yoga (6 week course, 7:45-9pm). Contact The Stables for details and bookings.
The Stables is a beautiful space – if you haven’t been already I urge you to come along to any of their classes or workshops. A special place indeed.
Our regular Saturday morning class resumes this weekend,
4th January, 9:30-10:30am at The Good Health Clinic.
I love our weekend yoga gang – thank you for making it such a fun, community practice, it’s such a highlight of my week to share it with you. Jai!
The Sunday Sancuary popped up just before New Year – and sold out! The overwhelming feedback was ‘ahhh – just what I needed!’
So here it is again, in the depths of the winter, when the sparkles of Christmas may already feel like a distant memory, let’s come together, tend our inner heart-fires, and choose rest, stillness, softness. An opportunity for not-doing.

Yoga is BACK this September!
It’s been a while, you guys! But whilst the summer might be coming to a close, yoga is BACK!
Our regular Saturday morning class resumes this Saturday, 7th September, 9:30-10:30am at the usual place, The Good Health Clinic in Selby. Flowing movement, mindful meditation, whole body living – yoga for *real* life!
There’s lots more ahead too. Evening classes, including our Mama Yoga classes, daytime classes, and more Sunday Santuary sessions – I loved sharing the one we did in August with you, I hope to run more on a semi-regular basis. There’s more info below!
Sunday Sanctuary – special extended classes
Special extended classes guiding you through movement, including flow, yin and restorative yoga, and meditation to explore deeper levels of rest and inquiry.
Sound and silence, space and softness, stillness and flow.
Mama Yoga
I’d like to start a Mama-centred yoga + relaxation weekly class later in the year. Whether your babes are tiny, not so tiny or in school – the overwhelm is real! They would be a mix of yoga, some breathing/meditation techniques and a place to be honest and share with other mamas and just be. A place to unwind a little bit. Have a cup of tea and a biscuit.
Would you be interested? Or know anyone who might benefit? Please share and let me know!
I’d love to hear from you and hear what YOU would like from our classes. If you’d be interested in either a daytime or evening class, Mama Yoga and/or the Sunday Sanctuary extended classes please do get in touch and let me know. It’s always been my aim to build a yoga kula that is supportive, useful and founded in JOY. Thank you so much for being part of it!
Here’s to the seasons ahead!
With love,
Lucy x
Honouring the seasons
This is usually how my practices look these days… impromptu, interrupted (regularly!), imperfect. But still, I practice when I can, in whatever way that presents itself on any given day. Even if it’s just a few moments of focussed intention, a deep breath, a little stretch out. We spoke about the inner seasons in our final classes – that we are not static – we are in flow, changing, just like the seasons of the natural world. Our lives, our situations, our bodies change – so why would our practice be a static unchanging thing? Taking time to tune in and listen to what it is we need today is what will guide us to useful, compassionate living. The seasons, our lives, our days, even our hours and minutes – things are moving, shifting, changing, even when we can’t see it. Spring emerges from the quiet of Winter. Summer blooms. Autumn beauty returns. It is all here in the breath itself: energy begins to rise like the spring; we feel the fullness of our body expanded and open at the top of the inhale (summer); the breath pauses and begins to release like the autumn; the winter leads us to the quiet stillness, the body momentarily quiet before the next breath, begins again. And so it is in everything – the seasons turning with quiet surety, all around us and within us. Take solace in this ever moving dance. We are a part of it, not aside from it. Listen. What season are you in today? What is that season telling you? What do you need to do, or not do, to honour that season inside?
I am now on maternity leave – but fear not, yoga is still on hand for you! Janice Woods will be covering our Monday evening and Saturday morning classes at The Good Health Clinic in Selby. Full details are on the classes page.
I’m also very happy to recommend Linda O’Connor’s classes in Cawood on Wednesday mornings – you can contact Linda directly for information on townsleyl@hotmail.com.
I will be back of course! I plan to return to teaching next year once we’ve got to grips with this new version of life! I will keep you updated.
Until then, with fondest love and deep gratitude,
Lucy x
Once more into the breach*…!
I hope you’re all already embracing and enjoying the summer, the heat, the light, the storms and the cooling rain – all that Summer has to offer!
I find myself growing like the fruit and plants of summertime too, and am now preparing to slow things down and hopefully take a little time to pause and rest before baby arrives and life takes another new shape. But there are still yoga offerings to enjoy coming up over the next few weeks!

All classes will be as usual until then:
Mondays, 6:45-7:45pm
Wednesdays, 10-11am
Saturdays, 9:30-10:30am
all @ The Good Health Clinic, Finkle Street.
I hope to see you before I finish!

A holiday hello
I just wanted to remind you beautiful people of the changes to classes over the next couple of weeks. Janice Woods will be covering my Saturday morning and Monday evening classes from today (18th June) – Monday 25th June, usual times and place, so please do come along!
Janice has been a student of mine for a number of years, and a long-time yoga practitioner with lots of experience. Janice teaches lovely gently flowing classes that focus on mindful movement and alignment, along with a good dose of positivity and time for relaxation and refection. Janice will be covering my classes when I go on maternity leave in September so it’s a great opportunity to come along and try her teaching out. Enjoy! Details of our regular classes are on the classes page.
On Sunday 22nd July I’ll be running a Sunday morning special class celebrating the seasons and changes. All details on the Workshops page – places are limited so booking is required – hope you can make it!
The changes to the regular classes are below. Please take a look and if you’ve any questions, please do get in touch.

Aslan is on the move…
Spring – or the promise of Spring – is finally here. Every year, it feels like it will never arrive, that the winter might last forever. But then, slowly, surely, the daffodils’ green heads start to emerge; brave crocus’ colours arrive. Even when snow and frost and rain still drive, these hardy soldiers surprise us and bob their cheery heads – reminding us again and again that all is unfolding, all is in flow, nothing remains the same.
So thank you, winter, for your restful darkness, but now light approaches! We welcome the Spring Equinox next week, the light and darkness in equality before we move into more light and (yes, we must believe!) more warmth. Night to day…Winter to Summer…inhale to exhale. The flow is all around us. Trust. All is coming.
Check out our class timetable for details of the Easter break (28th March – 4th April inclusive), and don’t forget that the Yoga Oasis at the beautiful Stables Yoga Centre returns on Sunday 25th March. Details on our Workshops page.
See you soon sweet friends!
Embracing Stillness and Darkness
Deep breaths everyone – Christmas is here!!!
In the madness of the Christmas season, it can feel harder than ever to catch our breath as we get caught up in the whirlwind of presents! food! parties! shopping! The ‘must-dos’ and ‘should-dos’ before the countdown to Christmas runs out. All of these things are joyful and wonderful of course, but let’s face it, can begin to feel overwhelming too…
(I’ve a little Christmas class coming up to give you a couple of hours’ space to recharge…)
We’ve spoken before about embracing the darkness at this time of year, and I’ve spoken a lot in classes about noticing the moments of stillness…in poses…in the breath… and how we might go on to notice those tiny snippets of quietness in our busy daily lives.
Where can we find the moments of stillness..?
Feet on the ground and this breath.
Sometimes that’s all it takes to reset and reconnect to what’s really important, and what this is really all about:
Love. Being together. Gratitude.
The little things.
What else is there? When you feel in the spin of it all, take a breath and remember the truth (in the frenzy of Christmas and beyond):
You already have all that you need; you are enough.
Our last class of 2017 will be Monday 18th December. We’ll restart on Saturday 6th January.
Thank you all so much for (re-)joining me this year to practice and continue to grow our yoga community! Lucyogini 2.0!
Here’s to the continuing journey and evolution!
In the meantime, I wish you all very happy, safe, warm and peaceful Christmases, and a most abundant new year to come.
Hope to see lots of you in classes before then!
With truest love and the jingliest of bells,
Lucy x
Yoga doesn’t care
I have news for you.
Yoga doesn’t care if you’ve haven’t rolled out the mat all summer,
Or missed a few classes,
Or were meaning to get to class sometime back in April and…it just never happened.
Yoga doesn’t care if you have the latest Sweaty Betty Lululemon ultra-stretchy glitter leggings
…or your comfy old jogging pants with the hole in the crotch;
Or if you can touch your toes and stand on your head –
Or if you haven’t seen your toes in a while and your head feels like a troop of monkeys have taken up residence in there…
Yoga doesn’t care if you had chocolate for breakfast.
Or about your hair or make up
Or the air brushed covers of magazines showing ‘perfect’ bodies in ‘perfect’ poses.
Yoga just cares about now.
Community.
Good intentions, open minds and kind hearts.
The life in this breath and the goodness in our actions.
Yoga cares if you show up.
To practice; to today; to this very moment.
Yoga cares about living your practice, body, heart and mind;
Being the change you wish to see.
This is yoga for life.
Not just for the hour of class.
Not just for the current trend.
Making use of every day and night to realise our potential for love.
And guess what –
It’s never too late, you’re never too old, it hasn’t been too long (true facts).
Classes start back NEXT WEEK – join us and begin again, start afresh, continue the journey – yoga doesn’t mind which it is for you (and neither do I)!
Check out our new timetable for September – including a NEW Monday evening class!
See you soon yogi friends!
